The Center for the Study of Politics and Governance and the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly are cosponsoring a series of public forums with the major party candidates for Minnesota’s 3rd Congressional District to foster informed and substantive discussion of important matters of public policy. The forums create an opportunity for the candidates to rise above the talking points and fractious back-and-forth of the campaign to address the important policy challenges facing Minnesota and the country. It also creates a forum for students and citizens to listen and raise questions with the candidates. The events are free and open to the public.

I find it interesting that Paulsen has no title for his speech….do you think he’ll cry to the audience about negative advertising? The fact that he’s getting out worked and out spent by Madia just goes to show how dedicated the volunteers for Madia are. With Ashwin, they make more calls and engage more voters daily than Paulsen touches or talks to in a week. Erik still has no sound policy on how to help fix the economy let alone balance the budget….his extension of tax credits for the wealthiest (over $250,000 a year) will cost $2.4 trillion and he has no plan on where the money will come from….if there’s a way he could borrow it so our children and grandchildren have to pay it back with interest I’m sure that would be his answer. Madia is the only one talking about making the tough choices and balancing the budget. As he says, we will go at this line by line and dime by dime….a pragmatic approach to a very real problem. That’s the type of leadership we need in Congress.
