Iowa State Senate Passes Resolution Opposing Iraq Surge in Troops
Yesterday the Democratic-lead Iowa State Senate adopted a Resolution opposing the commitment of additional American troops to the war in Iraq. The resolution was sponsored by 28 of the 30 Democratic senators in the chamber and states:
“That the Iowa Senate urges that members of the United States Congress and the administration not escalate the United States military force presence in Iraq and instead encourage Iraqi leaders to foster reconciliation and strengthen the unity government to improve that nation’s security.”
State Senate President Jack Kibbie argued on the floor, “Most believe there were no weapons of mass destruction. Saddam Hussein is history. And so, it is my opinion that the people of Iowa are asking their political leaders to express their opinion and send this message to the President of the United States, the House, and the Senate.”
In a statement Kibbie also added, “It is time to start bringing the troops home, and it is certainly time to stop sending more to Iraq … Why should Iowa Senate take a stand on this issue? Because the people of Iowa want their elected leaders to do everything they can to end this war. Because this war has cost Iowans too much money and too many lives.”
A December 2006 poll of Iowans found only 30 percent believed it was worth going to Iraq for regime change while 64 percent did not (KCCI-TV / Research 2000). A March 2006 poll also found three times as many Iowans felt the war in Iraq has made the U.S. less secure against terrorism—54 to 18 percent (KCCI-TV / Research 2000).

It is the 11th most viewed video of today in the news and blog category. Kibbie is amazing.
The realization is in the “wars” were pre-planned by an administration filled with lifelong oil executives and war profiteers. I don’t mean to be too harsh but America has had well documented facts that things are not what they seem and through 2 illegitimate elections the people who have seized power are profiting from war both pre and post. And yet we hear about resolutions, impeachments and resignations on a small scale never on a grand one.
I guess we can say it’s a start but it has been a start for years and nothing has really materialized. We are talking about upwards of a half million innocent people who are dead over a bunch of lies created by people who have profited from their murders.
America needs to stand up to the war machine and shut it down otherwise your grandchildren will ask one day “papa, where do taxes go” and the real answer is “my taxes are mainly going towards killing people”.
